It all starts with a prayer burden

It all starts with a prayer burdenNehemiah 1:3-4 (LITV) :

And they said to me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great evil and shame. The wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.
And it happened, when I heard these words, I sat down and wept, and mourned for days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of Heaven.

Nehemiah was used of God to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.  First, he rebuilt the physical walls.  Then, he rebuilt the spiritual ones.

How did God end up using him to carry out this huge task?

It all started with a prayer burden.

When you have a prayer burden, no one has to tell you to pray.  The burden is so strong, it becomes difficult to do anything else.  It will drive you to skip meals.  Fasting comes easy to a burdened heart.

When David Wilkerson got a prayer burden for the streets of New York, God used him to reach the Mau Maus and the Bishops.  Then God allowed him to reach out even further, through Teen Challenge.
