How to pray effectively for America and our world

As I write this, the polls are about to close on the 2020 US election. In these times, let’s pray for America.

It’s time to get back to the basics. It may not be as easy to get together to pray, to worship, to fellowship, to eat, sing and laugh together. Yet, though it may be difficult, let’s not forsake the assembling of ourselves together with our fellow believers.

My pastor, Pastor Burt Lowry, said it well:

I’ve burned a lot of firewood in my time. One thing I’ve learned about starting a fire in a wood stove is that a log doesn’t burn well all alone. It takes at least one other log to start a blazing fire to last through the night.”

You may not be able to get together with fellow Christians at this time. Yet, God answers prayer! So, as long as you must miss out on church time, double down on the time you spend meeting with our Heavenly Father! Spend time with Him each day like your life depends on it! This is how you can stay on fire for God through the COVID19 crisis.

I would like to teach you a “game” I play that will add some fun to your prayer time It may seem strange, but it helps me to focus on others rather than on myself as I pray.

1. Find out what works for you

Early Birth Pains and the End Times?

As of the writing of this post (June 2020), we have been experiencing worldwide plagues, riots in the streets, earthquakes, tornadoes… and so much more. You may be wondering, “Is it all over? Are we at the end of history as we know it? Is this the “End Times” prophesied about in the Bible?

Personally, I don’t think so. Not yet.

Time moves forward, one day at a time. So logically, if we believe there is a Biblical End Time coming, we are definitely headed toward it.

As I understand the Bible, we’re in the time of Early Birth Pains, which is spoken of in Matthew 24:

For you will hear about battles and news about battles. See that you do not become disturbed by what you hear. These things must happen, but it does not mean that the end has arrived. Folk will rise together against other folk, and realms will rise against other realms. Different places will experience epidemics, famines, and earthquakes. All these troubles are like early birth pains. (Matthew 24:6-8, MWNT)

How to be led by the Holy Spirit

Have you ever faced a challenging situation where the Holy Spirit showed you what to do?

Holy Spirit, lead me into all truthLiving in Chad as a family so that we could shine for Jesus was full of challenges.  As a result, we relied heavily on the Holy Spirit to bring things to our remembrance.  As Jesus said in John 14:25-26 [MWNT],

I have spoken to you these words while I am still living among you. But this Holy Spirit, the Comforter, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach and show you everything, whatever things I will say to you.

God proved Himself faithful to His Word.  Our greatest successes in Chad came, not as a result of our “great intelligence or ability” (yuck!), but rather from the leading and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
