My name is David. I help people have a great vacation by serving as a front desk clerk at the Bar Harbor Inn.
No matter where you stay when you come to Bar Harbor, I’m here to help you have the best vacation possible while on Mount Desert Island. I accomplish this by gathering “insider information” about the places you wish to visit during your stay, and sharing it with you.
When the information we find on search engines and the big travel sites is out of date, it’s annoying. What’s more, it can lead to time wasted in the car or on foot… time that should be used to refresh and relax.
Also, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park becomes way too crowded when the cruise ships come in. In the summer, when three ships are docked in Frenchman bay, lines can be way too long at restaurants and ice cream shops downtown. It’s just not right that our visitors don’t know about the many great alternatives close by, sometimes only tens of feet away… as in the case of the Chocolate Moose Ice Cream Shop.
I live in Bar Harbor, and I love this town. I love what it does to refresh the many visitors who come here each year.
If ever you are having difficulty figuring out what is really going on here, just text, email or call me, anytime. Let me be your friend “in town” who can help you find answers to your questions.
Your Vacation Guide
You may be staying at the Asticou Inn, the Blackwoods Campground, or even the Harborside Hotel. Maybe you arrived by van, plane or cruise ship, from Maryland, Germany, New York, California or Canada.
No matter where you are staying, how you got here, or where you came from, you are always welcome to stop by and visit with me at the Bar Harbor Inn! It would be my pleasure to answer any questions you may have about Mount Desert Island.
My Life
I somehow survived multiple hospitalizations for asthma as a child. Above is a picture of me at 6 years old. I am getting life saving oxygen treatment after one of my many asthma attacks.
Because I survived, I gradually came to realize how kind God is… and that he has a special plan for my life.
I celebrated my 8th, 9th and 10th birthdays in France. However, my parents put me in the French public school, and I came to know French “by force”. 😁
At one point, I spoke French better than English; my mom had to teach me English at home after school.
Above is a picture of me with my “CM I” class at La Feuillarde in Gif-Sur-Yvette, France. Can you find me?
New Life!
My father was working in Kuwait in the late 1970s. As a teenager there, I surrendered my life to Christ. From there I experienced the Shah’s exile from Iran, the hostage crisis and the rise of Ayatollah Khomeini.
Above is a picture of me in front of our home, waiting for the bus to go to the American School of Kuwait.
To say that I love travel, languages and cultures would be an understatement. I believe that I am especially blessed with an ability to help people of other cultures understand one another better.
my vision
This is my dream: to help guests have a great vacation during the summer months. Then, during the off season, to continue the work I began twelve years ago in the Sahara Desert. I will not do this alone, but with the help of friends, like you.
Beginning in 2007, my friends and I prepared an alphabet, dictionary and writing system for a previously unwritten language. It is based on the camel brands found on their camels.
Here’s what remains to be done: With your help, I’d like to work off-season beside my heart-adopted community in the Sahara Desert. Together, we can create a body of literature for their language.
