For many visitors, a visit to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island is the experience you carefully save for and hope to enjoy someday. On Bar Harbor Bay by David FarisYou dreamed of the day when life would calm down just enough so that you could come to visit this place. And now, you are here! (or on your way…)

With the end of COVID restrictions in many places, Mount Desert Island is much more congested.  Most days during the busy season, many thousands of visitors descend upon downtown Bar Harbor, packing the most popular shops, restaurants and attractions with people.

If you’re coming by car or by cruise ship, we’d like to help you make the most of your visit to The Island. That’s why we prepared these two brochures, which list all of the restaurants on Mount Desert Island.

Please feel free to download these pdfs, and to print out as many copies as you need for distribution… at your Bed & Breakfast, at your hotel, for your tour group, for anyone… as long as the pdfs are distributed in their original form, unaltered.

These brochures will extremely useful for you, because…

  1. Not all of the restaurants listed on the internet are open. Sadly, many didn’t make through the challenges of staying open during COVID. For this reason, I regularly drive around the island to find out firsthand which restaurants are open and which ones are closed.
  2. The internet on your phone isn’t accessible throughout Acadia National Park. So when you hit a dead zone, this list will still allow you to choose a great place to eat quickly. By having this list in your glove compartment, you can easily find the closest restaurant once your hike is over.
